Washing hair for each of us may seem like an ordinary activity, but it is not as obvious as it may seem. The process of washing hair raises many doubts and questions - how to wash your hair?

Before all, if you are having straight hair comb them gently. If you have curly hair combing shall be skipped in this stage but moved to comb hair on conditioner. Rinse your hair with warm water, then use all the cosmetics gently and make a scalp massage. When you rinse it use cold water to close hair cuticles.

Wash Methods

Remember that the choice of hair cosmetics is very important in every of those methods! Before washing is also worth to oil your hair (with oils choosed for your hair porosity)

Traditional: The easiest method, starting from cleansing scalp with shampoo. Rinsing it with warm water and then using a conditioner and rinsing it with cool water after a few minutes, depending on the conditioner label, so conditioner will be able to work.

CWC Method: Condition –Wash– Condition

It involves applying conditioner to wet hair before washing them with shampoo, and then applying the conditioner again. Thanks to this method, we protect hair against the drying effects of shampoo.

FIRST C:

Rinse your hair and use the first conditioner, use the lighter one with less nutrients, cheaper. First conditioner shall be as in accordance with the CG method, it shall not have useless here silicones but containing washing ingredients that also will help to brush curly hair gently and patiently.

WASH: Don't rinse 1st C, put a mild shampoo (Low poo) only on the scalp, massaging it gently, and then rinse hair with warm water. Pay attention for the shampoo composition, avoid strong detergents.

SECOND CONDITIONER:

It should be a hair mask, strongly moisturizing and nourishing. You can keep it on your hair in a shower cap for up to half an hour. Here we can also add ingredients to a mask, we can mix it with an oil or other semi-finished products as flax seeds gel, honey, egg etc.

CWC methods I especially recommend to everyone, it brings very good results for almost every type of hair. If you are going to choose this method, wash your hair with a stronger shampoo after some time, to clean your hair deeper.

CG Method: Curly Girl Method

A curly hair care method created by Lorraine Massey, author of the book "The Curly Girl Method". The cg method assumes rejection of silicones, sticking agents and strong detergents.

Before choosing this method is compulsory to make a final wash to get free of any superstructure: mineral, silicones, poly quats, and even silicon-free conditioners and masks. It is a wash of whole hair and scalp with a strong detergent shampoo, that shall contain: SLeS, ALS, MLS, SCS, but it shall be silicones free.

Strong detergent components:

  • Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLeS)

  • Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (ALS)

  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)

  • Ammonium Laureth Sulfate (ALeS)

  • Sodium Coco Sulfate (SCS)

  • Magnesium Laureth Sulfate (MLS)

  • Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate

Silicones Are:

  • Dimethicone

  • Dimethiconol

  • Amodimethicone

  • Polyquaternium-xx

  • Quaternium-xx

  • Vinyl Acetate/Vinyl Neodecanoate Copolymer (PVP/VA copolymer)

  • Acrylates copolymer

Final wash can be done more than once. It's more like a hair reset wash, for example, if you use a silicone product by mistake or by necessity. Regular final wash shall be done about once a month so it works well, thanks to which hair "nourishes" and is not dull or clapped. This wash shall be connected with a deep protein conditioner applying after shampoo.

Method is adapted to Co-wash, so to use this method, it's required to give up to

silicones, sticking agents as well as waxes and lanolins. Those ingredients are too deep and heavy so it's too difficult to wash it out with conditioner alone. Drying alcohols are also prohibited: alcohol denat., Isopropyl alcohol.

CG PROHIBITED :

  • Lanolin

  • Mineral oil

  • Paraffinum Liquidum

  • Petrolatum

  • Wax

  • Cera Alba

  • Dimethicone

  • Amodimethicone

  • Dimethiconol

  • Cyclopentasiloxane

  • Amodimethiconol

WHICH CONDITIONER TO USE? :

This which hight in composition contain, delicate cleansing ingredients such as: Behentrimonium Chloride, Cetrimonium Chloride, Benzalkonium Chloride

HOW TO USE:

First, rinse your hair and then apply co-wash, brush your hair and massage your scalp precisely, rise it with warm water and then you can apply deeper conditioner an keep it up to 30 min.

No Poo Method: washing hair without a shampoo, zero-waste method

In this method, the most important thing is to limit the daily care of harmful detergents that damage the hair. However, this is not difficult, just find alternatives that will allow you to wash your hair without shampoo.

Such as:

  • Co-wash

  • Water Only

  • Natural soaps: Gray potassium soap, Oil-based soaps, Herbal soap, Sulfur soap, (I prefer shampoo bars)

  • Baking soda and apple vinegar

  • Herbs: Soap Nuts, Soapwort, Shikakai

  • Flour: wholemeal rye flour, chickpeas flour, cornflour, buckwheat or oat flour

  • Lye

  • Clay

  • Egg yolk

  • Some of intimate hygiene wash

Each type, you using will need a specific care or also giving up some of cosmetics components. However, it's always worth cleaning your scalp with a stronger detergent after some time to clean your hair deeply and give it a clean restart.

At the end of every washing! : You can again brush your hair and shake off the excess water with hands, then paper towel or cotton t-shirt. Use Leave-In Conditioner and for curly hair apply a gel or other styling products. After this, protect hair ends with favourite drop of oil or silk. Wait till your hair dry or use a dryer with cool airflow.

That's all for now!

Thank you for attention,

Best Regards!
