Antibacterial gels and hand disinfectants are currently in short supply in pharmacies and drugstores. The recipe for an antibacterial gel or disinfecting liquid is very simple.

Homemade Hand Sanitizer or antibacterial gel kill almost all germs, provided they contain the right ingredients. It is worth using them in a period of greater risk of developing influenza or coronavirus-induced disease. How to make such a gel or liquid at home?

What do you need?

- ethanol or any 99% alcohol - aloe vera gel

- regulator ph (i.e Herbal distillate/rose water/essencial oil etc.)

- opptional Vitamin E/glicerin to protect hand skin from drying out

- small container

The antibacterial gel (disinfecting liquid) prepared in this way kills almost all germs (bacteria, fungi, viruses) on the hands and on various surfaces, e.g. door handles, handrails and handles in public transport before they penetrate the body. Unfortunately, the alcohol contained in the preparation dries the skin of the hands.

I recommend to use it only in situations where we have limited access to soap and water, as well as when we are in places where the risk of infection with pathogens is dangerous for health (e.g. in hospitals, clinics, beauty salons, in travel etc.).

When using the hand sanitizer gel, avoid eye contact. If the product gets into the eyes, rinse with lukewarm water. The product must not be used on irritated or damaged skin.
